A Haunted Mansion Parlor Vow Renewal Aboard the Disney Destiny

Love is in the air, and perhaps a few happy haunts, too! Thomas and Kelly celebrated ten years of marriage with a one-of-a-kind vow renewal aboard the Disney Destiny, becoming the first couple to renew their vows in the ship’s Haunted Mansion Parlor.

Thomas and Kelly’s love story began in downtown Portland, where a mutual friend brought them together. In 2014, Kelly introduced Thomas to Walt Disney World during a family trip to Orlando, and it didn’t take long for him to see what made Disney so special to her. Kelly recalls, “We had an absolute blast, and Thomas was officially hooked.”

The couple later became Annual Passholders and joined Disney Vacation Club, selecting Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa as their home resort.

Years later, the couple discovered a new way to experience Disney together at sea. After their first sailing aboard the Disney Fantasy in 2022, they began imagining a celebration of their own aboard a Disney ship.

For their tenth anniversary, the Haunted Mansion Parlor offered a setting unlike any other. With its eerie elegance and nods to the beloved attraction, the Parlor set the scene for a vow renewal that blended timeless romance with delightfully haunting details.

Thomas and Kelly incorporated meaningful traditions from their original wedding into the ceremony, including their first dance and champagne toasts. Recreating these special moments gave the couple a chance to revisit wedding traditions while celebrating their anniversary in a setting all their own.

Following the ceremony, Shutters photography, Disney Cruise Line’s onboard photography service, captured portraits of Thomas and Kelly throughout the ship. The Parlor’s gothic elegance and haunting atmosphere lent a distinctive character to their portraits.

Thomas and Kelly are already looking ahead to their twentieth anniversary. For the couple, a vow renewal offered a meaningful way to reflect on the commitment they continue to make to one another. As they put it, “It gives us an occasion to rededicate ourselves to the marriage and reminds us why we choose each other every day.”
